Really striking cover from Jamie Keenan (Design), John Gall (Art Directing), and Marc Atkins (Photograhy).
I think they should have thrown a pencil or crumpled piece of paper on the bottom right to reference Madagascar and keep the shape a little more separate from S.America’s, (I’m only 1/8th serious.)
The hardcover for this title had a nice cover as well, though the type is a bit horsey. The photo reminds me of something my former professor, Chaz Maviyane-Davies, would do.

There is a nice timeless quality to this. Strong on concept and execution. It would have been easy for it to become gimmicky, but thankfully it didn’t.
Love it, very nice. I think they typeface and placement really keep it from getting to gimmicky, which (as the previous poster pointed out) it could easily do.

i like how the bright red book is round about where uganda – the setting for this story- is on the map. it’s subtle, but a nice nod to the fact it’s a book about a country in africa, not the entire, gigantic continent of africa.

Everything about this cover is amazing! What if the “a novel” was placed in a place for Madagascar? Probably too dumb eh?
