Is there anything more wonderful than a stack of old books?

The answer is “Yes, of course.” But they’re still a thing of beauty and wonder, regardless.

I especially like how they stamped the title and credits onto the pages of the books themselves. As opposed to just overlaying them digitally, (or at least did a nice enough job of it in Photoshop to fool me. Either way the effect is the same.)

if you use the “search inside” function on amazon.com to look at it close up, the type reveals to be likely more photoshopped than physically printed on.

“The Archivist” is especially suspicious, since the “smudge” is really clean/sharp.

regardless, it’s still a bitchin’ cover.

Michael is pretty funny. I heard him give a talk at a design conference titled: “When Working for the Man, is Working the Man.” Great insights on corporate usurping and other exploits. All in tongue and cheek of course.

Nice design.

It’s obviously photoshopped, it would be silly to assume otherwise. But it doesn’t take anything away a from a cover, I doubt very much anyone would physically stamp the books – it just wouldn’t be clear enough.

But I do like this cover a lot. I like the way the books are mis-aligned so that the pile is kind of wiggly and slightly off balance.

I think this was much more successful

I think the type isn’t exactly awe-inspiring, but I think it works well, and the books in the background give much more a sense of bookishness and reading in my opinion.

I like it. Just not fond of the blue bkdg. It’s neither here nor there. For me this cover is a 90%-er

Very clever. I like the way the authors name is written and not stamped.
