In Canada, they’re Rockets. “Smarties” are something completely different in Canada: candy-coated chocolate that’s like M&Ms, only better.

I love the background colour. I do not know why I find this cover so haunting…I mean, it’s a picture of lollies for crying out loud!!
And, I’m not sure what the proper name in Australia is for them, but I personaly call them Sherbets. And here, Smarties are like M&M’s as Don said.

Smarties? M&M’s? I live in Italy and this image makes me think to a fancy TAMPAX… anyway, nice… ehm, sorry, you know, here in Italy we have strange ideas about beauty…

they are parma violets.. But yes, it is a very capturing cover, and very suggestive it could mean anything. If i were to happen across this book, i wouldn't dare to not give it a look.

Pasteled colours & typeface give a mature feel & sweets are generally associated with children... Subliminals of pedophilia (!) encapsulate the book's title very cleverly in my humble opinion. Makes everything seem quite unsettled & moody, like the authors name...

And yes, a gong sounded after I typed that.

As I look at this again, I note the brilliance of having the Smarties hover slightly off the page. It adds a whole level of supernatural creepyness.

although it looks nice, does the book actually sell? Advertising has warped my mind.

This is for sure one of my all time favorite covers. The typography is gorgeous.
The image is haunting.
Sweet but evil.

Amazing cover, one of my favorites all time. I will never eat smarties again, and I have not real idea why.

Nice! I was going to send you this one.

those are rockets, not smarties

no… they’re smarties.
They might be “rockets”, too. But they’re definitely smarties.
