The condensed text does mirror the ladder in the photo, and combined express and upward motion, a climb to a dreamstate. Or maybe I am intrepreting it the way I would want the design to be :)

The strong, bold text in the foreground acts as a wall working as a barrier with the background, creating a mysterious relationship betwen the reader and the perons on the photograph. As a whole it brings the two together with monochromatic use of color and a touch of red give it life.

The photo is evocative. But what happened with the typography? I could live with the small white text at the bottom, but the rest is jsut plain slapped-on flat.
The Dream Life of Sukhanov
Eerie cover.
Most of the credit should go the photographer, Stephen Sheffield.

Yep, without the photo, there is nothing to critique. It’s just text. But the photo is very good.

You’re right, it’s the photo, very dreamy.
