title: E Meter Essentials

author: L. Ron Hubbard

News about the so-called hacker war on Scientology got us wondering if we could find an E Meter on eBay. No such luck, but wow — if all Scientology literature looked this cool, we’d be full time thetan-busters.

[edit] I’m also reminded of the chop on the cover of Guy Kawasaki’s The Macintosh Way, which I’ve been meaning to post for a while.

I like this cover, it has that penguin books font(i think) and looks like something someone found in their loft, great pictogram in the circle too. Lovely stuff. Ron Hubbard used to paint houses in Istanbul. He did a shoddy job….allegedly.

noteworthy

I think Eric Gill just rolled over in his grave — no you didn’t refer to Gill Sans as “that Penguin book font!”

This is quite unique for a science fiction title.

This is quite uninspired for a sci-fi title… Same goes for the Macintosh Way title.

Gill caps was the Penguin font for much of the 50s and 60s for the fiction paperbacks template developed by Tschichold. Then there was Helvetica and just about every other font followed. I can totally see how this came off as looking like an early Penguin book. Which leads me to ask why Augustes comment is so noteworthy?
