I am going to be literal here in my reason for not liking this cover; the crossed out text makes no sense. Therefore, the cover is fake and I hate being dupped for the sake of art, style or design. I am aware of the limits as to the size of a book cover but give me a break “The on Last” or “a novel by to”? When would any of you mistakenly or willingly type those words down and leave them?
Of course, I am laughing at myself here so you can too! I am the person who hates to see actors and actresses drink coffee from empty cups. I can’t even follow their lines when they are doing this.
Yes, this does catch my eye but it also causes me to shutter.

While I agree that some of the typos do not make sense, I have to defend some of them. He’s not saying “a novel by to”, he’s saying “a novel by Tom,” and that’s why the t needs to be capitalized. However, since there was not anymore room, it is squeezed in at the beginning of the next line. As for the “on,” yeah that doesn’t make any sense, but haven’t you ever read a paper you wrote and see some random word in there that you have no recollection of typing that doesn’t make any sense at all? I think it’s funny cause the “on” reminds me of those words. Yeah, there are some examples of the typos not making any sense, but overall I feel that this cover is really clever and catches the readers eye, which is essentially the purpose of a book cover. Job well done.

Swan, I see that you’re following an outpocketing of Murphy’s Law that states that if one is analyzing/criticizing the spelling, grammar or writing of someone else, you are very likely to make an error yourself. :) (“shutter?”)

This is great! doesn’t seem like a book cover at all. I think this would defiently catch my eye in a book store.
