title: The Paper Sculpture Book

author: Frances Richard

publisher: Independent Curators Inc, 2003

Sometimes, being ”pretty” is enough, (or perhaps I’m ust missing the concept?)

I really really really like the way the masked images are placed so as to mimic the patterns of the bird’s decoration. It looks like most of the photos are of jackets & sweatshirts.

It’s not evident from the cover, but this is a book on Paper Sculptures, by the way.

Anyone know who designed this?

How odd. I wonder if this has anything to do with the old ”Guide to North American Birds” joke?

Yeah maybe. Though you’d think that if it did, they’d be a little more explicit with it. As in.. the sweatshirts would be unzipping to reveal skin.

weird.

Fred Tomaselli merges images from a birding book and an outdoor-clothing catalogue to create an ironic yet beautiful aviary. – from the amazon link
