Nicely executed cover that doesn’t lose any of the warmth that the author is known for, while still utilizing the appropriate diagramatic aesthetic.

It’s a great photo but I wish he’d done more with the design or done it differently. Maybe replaced the legs of the people with white cutouts and dotted black outlines. Perhaps used a different, softer font or smoothed the edges of the white boxes.

It just doesn’t seem finished. The design feels like a concept rather than a final piece.

I think it’s great the way it is. In my opinion, adding white cutouts wouldn’t really add anything to the layout. If anything it would be confusing.

I’d agree with Matthew. Soft edged boxes would have been more appropriate. Also the white boxes look quite stark, perhaps a colour cast with some transparency…?

I really don’t care much for this. The positioning of the boxes is unsettling and the dotted lines don’t really point at anything. The fact that the couple is laying beside eachother rather than on top of is just cowardly and boring. I’d go for more of an instruction manual thought, right from scratch. Make it look like an IKEA assembly chart. Matthew, I like the cutouts idea.

I feel you mike. I might have gone a bit over the top in my post. Also, I’m Swedish so there’s nothing more homey to us cold northerners than IKEA. Kidding.

You’re right. The colors in the photo are great for conveying the warmth of the book but it needs som more humor. Slightly more instruction manual and slightly less Dawsons Creek I guess.
