Special Topics in Calamity Physics

Pretty amazing use of typography and basic illustration.

It’s interesting that the title repeats itself. I’d be curious to hear the reasoning behind that decision.

I’m nearly positive there are several versions of this cover, but I’m having a hard time digging them up.

Here’s an alternate version.

This cover is much better compared to the alternate version

This cover is much better even when not compared to the alternate version.

Gads. I want to wash my mind out with vinegar after seeing that other link…

I’m not sure I like either one. This one reminds me of a 1950s ad for Radio Shack and the other like a 1850s ad for wheat flour.

I think the thing that really turns me off to this one is that each block is so literal, but without any cohesion between the symbology other than an era-related style.

the era-related style seems to be enough cohesion for me

i sorta like the basic visuals, but frankly i don’t have the time to figure out the read of the title. that just annoys me.

“frankly i don’t have the time to figure out the read of the title. that just annoys me.”

yeah. 1.7 seconds of my life that I will never get back.
