As unassuming as it may be, I think Buckley did a masterful job with this cover. Her careful selection of the photograph, combined with the placed emphasis on certain parts of the title, does such a wonderful job of highlighting the delightful irony of the title, and the character of the book.
Great book, by the way. Leibling is The Master of boxing journalism. Reading him has all the thrill of sitting down with your Grandpa and listening to stories from the olde day.

The font used for the final version of the cover is a tad more interesting.

Reminds me of vintage Verve/Impulse! and Blue Note cover art (circa late fifties.) Example: http://www.gokudo.co.jp/Record/SRollins/sony%20033.jpg
