Under the Dome: A Novel

Sorry for being down for a while; Amazon pulled some trickery with their API which we use to pull covers.

This cover is great! I mean, for a Stephen King novel its quite amazing. Congratulations to Mr. King and the publisher, and of course the art director, for moving big-name writers' covers in a new direction. Interestingly, there is a story about the cover on Amazon's page - maybe they're trying to take our readership away! The cover wraps. Are we going to see more of this on these big name covers? Are we cantankerous covers.fwis.com readers responsible for the new movement? Or is it the talented AD's toiling away at their day jobs, jacket after forlorn jacket falling in sacrifice to The One That Gets Through? Stay tuned dear readers for this and more exciting news from the first, greatest, and original book cover blog!

DAMN. The full wrap is incredible. Rex's last cover for Stephen King kicked ass too, (the HC for "Just After Sunset"). It's been a while since I picked up a Stephen King book, but this will make it 2 in a row.

great cover. very different and not so Big Book as would be expected. and the way it wraps is just so cinematic. Thanks for coming back with an interesting post. Amazon could never take away your readership... Covers.fwis attracts a certain type of refined sub-species.

Can someone post a picture of the wrap? I will try to find the book locally but just in case it would be good to reference. As a designer of spec-fic novels, it's nice to see publishers and ADs breaking the cliches of the genre...

From one Coward to another, if you read Chris's original post once more with feeling, you will find the wrap you seek.

It's similar to the "Everything's eventual" cover, which also wraps, showing a mostly innocent but slightly suspicious (suspicions raised by the author name, particularly) scene on the front that reveals violence on the back and side. It's still really cool, though.

Here in Australia we have a terrible design for this book. Looks like this http://assets.fishpond.com.au/9780340992562.jpg except even more purple in real life. Looks like a generic genre fiction title (which it may possibly be) and doesn't look nearly as interesting as the above cover. Very disappointing. :(

noteworthy

^I'm amazed that someone went to the trouble of essentially redesigning the same thing... I doubt very much the Australian publisher/distributor would have had a hard time getting the rights to the art above!

I know, I saw this too. Pretty tragic.

FWIW, this novel has been getting some great reviews.

I also love the NYTimes little graphic they've done in reference to it:
